What is the Face Recognition feature and how does it work?

The Facial Recognition feature in VORTEX allows you to identify individuals based on their facial features. This functionality can be used with Profile Search to create a whitelist and blacklist. When enabled, known individuals can be automatically recognized, while unknown individuals can be added to the profile for further tracking and identification.

• Profile Search: The functions can be found on the side menu, it works as a database where you can store and manage profiles of known individuals. These profiles can then be used by the Face Recognition feature to identify people in video feeds.For more detailed information about profile search, please visit HERE.

Where can I find the Face Recognition feature and how do I configure it?

• Location: The Face Recognition feature is available under the Device / Settings / Detection  section within the camera's settings page.

• Rule settings:

  • Choose Facial Recognition from the rule type options.
  • Draw a line or a region on the camera live view to set the monitoring area
  • Set a match,You can choose the appropriate match criteria based on your organization's needs
    • Include created profiles: Matches recognized faces with existing profiles.

    • Exclude created profiles: Prevents the system from matching faces with profiles that have already been created.

    • Include customized tags: Allows tagging for faces and matches based on customized tags.

    • Exclude customized tags: Prevents matching faces based on customized tags.

      Under Matches, you can choose from four options to configure how Face Recognition interacts with profiles.

  • Once configured, Facial recognition events will be displayed in Message Center.

How does Face Recognition work with Live View?

When enabled, Facial Recognition in Live View will detect individuals as they pass by the camera. The system will:

• Display the name of the person if they are a known individual in the system.

• Show Unknown if the person is not recognized.

This provides real-time identification and enhances security monitoring by providing immediate recognition results during live surveillance.

How does the Message Center work with Face Recognition events?

The Message Center will display all Face Recognition events.

• If the recognized individual is a known person, their name will be displayed.

• If the individual is unknown, the system allows you to add them to the Profile for future tracking and recognition. This helps in continuously improving the database for more accurate identification over time.
