And to connect everything together have connectors and cables yet.

For IP cameras, we use UTP or FTP network cables.

For this, a Cat5 cable is sufficient to allow the cameras to connect at the correct setting no more than 10 Mbps or less per camera.

Now when do you use which cable?

In normal circumstances you can use UTP cable and the FTP cable is used when there are external disturbances such as strong radio signals or when the cables are near heavy voltage cables. This is because these FTP cables have an extra aluminum protective film around the data cables, it is therefore only visible when finishing the cable.

Connectors

Of course, you can go ahead and finish an RJ45 connector directly on the cable and connect it directly to the camera. This can be quite tricky at first and involve a lot of work.

Now it is much easier to use so-called rj45 keystone jacks.

These come in for the UTP cable and for the FTP cable.

Then from this keystone you go with a short UTP cable to the camera.

The advantages of this are that you can test the UTP cable with a cable tester like the UT681C or with the SF-TESTER4-5N1-4K CCTV tester.
