Safire and Corridor mode

For this we use a Safire PoE NVR SF-NVR8216A-16P-4K and a Safire SF-IPB025HG-2E IP camera.

Corridor mode is a really useful feature available on many CCTV cameras that can be used to effectively monitor a space that is more vertical than horizontal in shape. Such areas include hallways, walkways, stairways, commercial corridors, tunnels, and roadways. When installing and viewing a CCTV camera, you want the image framing to include as much of the area of interest while cutting out as much of the redundant areas, such as walls and ceiling, as possible. Corridor mode allows you to rotate the camera lens and video image 90 degrees so that it is in portrait, rather than landscape, format. In this way, you can use the camera to really focus on the areas of interest in your frame, changing the image aspect ratio from 16:9 to 9:16 to suit a narrow surveillance configuration.

how can I activate the corridor mode function in my camera settings?

We suggest that you set up the camera on your network and enable runner mode in its settings before attempting to rotate and position the lens. This will allow you to use the live video stream, with the correct aspect ratio, to orient the lens in its optimal direction. Lens positioning usually involves a bit of trial and error to get the best result specific to your space.

1. Open Internet Explorer on your PC and enter the IP address of the NVR.

2. Go to the recorder configuration page

3. Check if it is possible to change the image settings via the NVR

4. In the example we do not have the option to rotate the image through the recorder so we have to do it through the camera. When the camera is connected to the PoE of the recorder it is necessary to activate the Virtual Host first.

5. Through the Network and then the Advanced Settings in the Other tab enable the Virtual Host

6. Now that the virtual host is enabled, go to System and then Camera Management, IP Camera, and select the IP link of the camera to configure the vertical view, this will open a new tab in your IE.

7. Log into the camera and go to the configuration tab

8. Through Image, Display Settings open the Video Adjustment option

9. Activate the Rotation option

Now that the camera is rotated 90º we need to use the monitor to set up a live view.

Connect to the recorder monitor.

1. Right-click and select System.

2. Open the Live View and then the View and click on Set Custom Layout

3. Click on the plus sign in the upper left corner

4. Change the name when necessary

5. Mark and select the two windows to merge

6. Then save

7. Select the custom layout you just created

8. Click on the play button to set the view and click on Apply

Now that you are back on the main screen, you need to display the Custom Layout

1. Right-click and select the Live View button

2. At the bottom right, you select Custom Layout

Now you see the new layout with the vertical camera

Select the full screen icon to have a full screen
