The Safire Smart VMS server is a device with embedded VMS software, to which you can add both recorders and IP cameras, just as you would in Safire Smart VMS. It allows both live viewing and playback of recordings made on the server's own HDDs.

When starting up the device and connecting a monitor, mouse, and keyboard, it will prompt you to change the default password (123456) to a secure one. Once the password is set, the Wizard will appear to guide you through the most important sections, such as IP or date and time.

After completing the Wizard, the device menu will appear, which is the same as Safire Smart VMS:

ADDING DEVICES

In the following section, you will add the recorders or IP cameras:

LIVE VIEW

Once added and online, you will be able to view them live

PLAYBACK VIEW

To view recordings, the first step is to determine whether you want to view the recordings stored on the HDD of the NVR that has been added to the VMS, or search for those that have been made on the server itself. This is done in the following section, where the most common option is to select the server:

  • Storage Server: When going to the recordings section, the VMS search will be performed on the recordings made on the server itself
  • Network Device: The recordings will be searched on the HDD of the NVR that has been added to the VMS

These two options can be changed at any time

For the VMS recording configuration, to specify which channels you want to record and with which schedule, go to the following section:

By default, recording is disabled, so you will need to enable these two sections so that recording begins on each of the added channels or cameras:

  • Record Schedule: The type of recording schedule will be selected, the most common being 24 hours 7 days, but you can create more custom schedules with Schedule Setting
  • Offline Record: This section can be Open (enable recording) or Closed (disable recording), so you can specify which channels you want to record in the VMS and which ones you do not

Once recording is set on the server, you can perform searches:

SMART EVENT CONFIGURATION ON THE SERVER

To record or manage any smart events on the server, such as line crossing, area intrusion, etc., the first step is to have it correctly configured on the recorder/camera.

Next, go to the Alarm Setting section.

Within Alarm Linkage Setting you will find all the events that the server can receive or generate, from hard disk issues to events received from added devices.

In this case, to configure a line crossing event, go to Monitoring Point and select Monitoring Point-Line Crossing Detection. On the right, the cameras configured as Perimeter Detection added to the server will appear, where you can configure different actions, the most important ones highlighted in red

  • Audio - The server will beep when the event is generated
  • Preset - A PTZ camera will go to a preset
  • Record - To record the event on the server
  • Alarm Preview - The event alert will appear on the server monitor
  • Snapshot - To take a snapshot of the event
  • Alarm Output - Activate an alarm output, either from the server or from one of the added devices
  • Trigger email - Send an email when the event is generated
  • Schedule - Event activation schedule

Once the event is configured, you will be able to view the recordings on the server
