In versions prior to NVR version 1.4.1 and DVR version 1.3.5, all logs were stored in flash memory with a capacity of 192 KB.

Beginning with NVR version 1.4.1 and DVR version 1.3.5, in order to meet the requirement that log storage must exceed 60 days, 128MB of hard disk space is partitioned for log storage.

One record is 60 bytes, and 128MB of space can store 2,236,962 records. If stored for 6 months, an average of 8.5 records per minute is stored.

Information on log storage

  1. Operation logs are stored in both: Flash (192KB) and HDD (128MB)
  2. Configuration logs are stored in: Flash and HDD
  3. Alarm logs are stored only on HDD
  4. Exception logs are stored only on HDD.
  • In the above 4 types of logs, there are some operation and configuration logs that are relatively minor, and some that are very important, so they will be stored in both flash and HDD at the same time. When those registers are full in flash and HDD, then flash and HDD will be overwritten and stored.
  • Some special exception records such as abnormal HDD / Abnormal device shutdown will also be stored in flash.
  • When there is no HDD installed, only flash memory is responsible for storing the records, so numbers 3 and 4 do not exist, only numbers 1 and 2 and some special exception records, number 5, will be stored.
