How to Enable or Disable the Guest User Access on Your Recorder

To allow other users to log in to your recorder with minimal permissions, you need to set up separate user access in the menu.

To enable guest access

1. Right-click the mouse on the Live View (via TV / monitor) and go to the task bar.
2. Click on the Menu and go to Setup.
3. Go to System > Users.
   
4. Click on a user# note-and-pencil icon under User Edit.
5. For User Enable, choose Enable.
   
6. Customize the User Name.
7. Customize the Password. (Password must be a minimum of six characters and can contain a mixture of numbers and letters)
8. Type the same password beside Confirm.
9. Click on Save.
10. Under Authentication, type your admin password (not the one you just created). 
11. Click on Authenticate.
12. Configure Permissions by clicking on the gear icon beside the newly enabled user. 
    1. Check the box where you will allow the user to see or make changes.
       

• Enable the following if you only want to give viewing access without formatting:
  • Live Analog Channels
  • Playback Analog Channels
  • Remote Login
• Enable the following if you want users to manually record or take pictures:
  • Manual Record
  • Manual Capture

Note: Guest users of your recorder cannot pair the recorder to their own Swann Security account if the recorder is already paired to your account. See Error code 2002: Device already paired: How do I pair my camera to another phone?

To disable guest access

1. Right-click the mouse on the Live View (via TV / monitor) and go to the task bar.
2. Click on the Menu and go to Setup.
3. Go to System > Users.
   
4. Click on a user# note-and-pencil icon under User Edit.
5. For User Enable, choose Disable.
   
6. Click on Save.

Note: If the user has knowledge of the admin password, then you must change the password. Admin password cannot be disabled. See also related article: How to stop sharing access to your unit or Swann Security account.
