What do we need to know to set up a VPN?

In order to make the VPN server to work, that VPN server router needs to have a public IP address or a public lease IP address assigned.

Some low budget ISP's (Internet Service Provider) are using CG-NAT for internet connections. CG-NAT does not affect regular Internet use; For example, most online video games work correctly, but when using port forwarding this will not work, this is the same for the VPN connection. So when the internet connection has a CG-NAT for internet connection, please contact the ISP for a solution.
