This document is intended for Android devices only. iOS devices don't need to switch camera modes.

What are Camera 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0?

At AlfredCamera, we offer three different camera modes to ensure the best experience on various devices.

  • Camera 1.0
    • This is the earliest implementation, offering the highest compatibility for older or specific device models. However, it doesn't support advanced features like Person Detection or Detection Zone.
  • Camera 2.0
    • This is the default mode for most devices. It uses the device's Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) for accelerated computing, which allows for new features like Person Detection and Detection Zone.
  • Camera 3.0
    • This is our newest mode. In addition to GPU acceleration, it supports upcoming advanced features like accessing multiple camera lenses. It's available on newer devices.
    • Requires Android 9.0 or later and AlfredCamera app version 2025.19.0 or later.

How do I know which camera mode my device is using?

The app will automatically select the most suitable mode for your device. Generally, you don't need to make any adjustments.

  • Because there are so many different Android models, fragmentation can make it difficult to support every device perfectly. If you find your camera isn't working as expected, try adjusting the camera mode to see if it improves stability.

To switch camera modes:

  1. On your Camera device, open the AlfredCamera app.
  2. Tap the Menu icon in the top-left corner.

  3. Tap Camera Settings.

  4. Scroll down to find Camera Mode and switch as needed.
